Sand and sea, a perfect beach day
By Ann Clinton
The day was picture perfect
A cool sunny day at the beach in September
The ocean was shades of blue and green
The tint of azure governed by the wind, waves and sun
It was a liquid palette of forever motion
The wind rippling the rhythmic waves as they
Raced to kiss the sand, flirting for just a moment
And then drawing back as they return to their depth
To repeat the process
The forever moment – everything the same and everything different
People walking, people idling in the sun-kissed sand
Which is cooler now with the coming autumn breezes
A cloudless sky except for just a feather cloud
Lonely up above
In the northern distance, not clouds but colors
Soft and blended evidence of mankind
Every once in a while, the naturalness broken
By the distant sound of the huge metallic
Bird high up in a cloudless sky its destination unknown
